It is the slow point of the offseason, with the Bengals having wrapped up OTA’s. But over the course of the last month, there have been a couple of occurrences within the organization that are worth mentioning.
The organization has promoted Elizabeth Blackburn, granddaughter of Mike Brown and daughter of Katie and Troy Blackburn.
She had been working in the family business as Director of Strategy and Engagement. In recent years, her work with fans has been noticeable, and she has largely been credited with the modernization of how the team interacts with its fans.
Blackburn’s new role is as a Vice President. She holds this title along with her father and her uncle, Paul Brown. Katie Blackburn’s title is Executive Vice President.
A few weeks ago, meanwhile, the Bengals wrapped up OTA’s. These sessions are padless, so there is only so much you can take away from them. They provided an early look at the rookies, and also produced a few standout plays, including a one handed catch by Mike Gesicki.
This biggest takeaway from OTA’s seems to be the frequency that they were working under centre. We know Burrow hasn’t been the biggest fan of it in the past, but it seems like maybe he’s softened his stance a little bit. But at the same time, we have seen other years where the team has practiced this in the offseason, only to rarely go into this formation during the season. Time will tell if they do go with a more balanced attack this season.
