2022 NFL Draft: Special Teams Rankings

K Rankings

1. Cade York (LSU)

York has a strong leg and is highly battle tested. His kicks have good trajectory, and you don’t often see the ball curve. He kicked a game winning 57 yarder, but did have a couple of misses in bigger moments. Missed a 55 yarder short. As well, he doesn’t have experience kicking off. Overall though, his traits are good, misses don’t look to be anything concerning, and his stats are good. He didn’t handle kickoffs, but seems to have the leg to. Should be a good pro.

Grade: 84.3Weighted Round Grade: 6th

2. Cameron Dicker (Texas)

Dicker has good leg strength and has put some nice flashes on tape. Also has experience punting and making tackles in kick coverage. Stats over the course of his career are a bit underwhelming. As well, I don’t particularly care for his ball trajectory. It has a tendency to hook to the left, even in his makes. Will need to adjust technique. He has pro potential but will need to compete and earn his spot.

Grade: 79.3Weighted Round Grade: UDFA

P Rankings

1. Matt Araiza (San Diego State)

Araiza has the strongest leg of any punter than I have ever scouted. 60, 70, and 80 yard kicks are on his resume. He has legit field flipping ability. Araiza is also a capable field goal kicker. The versatility may come in handy. I would like to see him improve his directional punting in order to make things tougher on the returner. He often outkicks his coverage, allowing more return opportunities. Also could be better pinning team’s inside the 20. Overall though, he is one of the most talented punters I’ve seen. I stuck to my system of not giving a grade above a 5th to special teamers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes earlier.

Grade: 92.2Weighted Round Grade: 5th

2. Jordan Stout (Penn State)

Stout will be overshadowed by Araiza, but is a great prospect, himself. He has very good leg strength and can flip the field. He is not airing 80 yard punts, but he had some nice 50+ yard kicks. Stout has experience as a field goal kicker. As a punter, his hang time is good, and he is good at placing punts inside the 20 or 10. He does have the odd shank, but I don’t see it being a big issue in the NFL.
