Bengals S Ricardo Allen has announced his retirement from the NFL.

Allen was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the 6th round (147th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent his first 7 seasons in Atlanta before being released after the 2020 season.

The Bengals worked him out prior to free agency, and later signed him to a 1 year contract for the 2021 season. He went on to appear in 14 games, making one start.

Allen served as a valuable depth piece in the secondary, while also playing on special teams. His veteran presence was important in the locker room, and was a big part of the culture that Zac Taylor had established.

Ricardo Allen finishes his career appearing in 91 NFL games, recording 355 tackles, 11 interceptions, and a sack. He also went to two Super Bowls, one with the Falcons and another with the Bengals.
