In addition to Ja’Marr Chase, Bengals WR Tee Higgins and QB Joe Burrow will be going to the 2026 Pro Bowl.
When the roster was announced, Chase was the only Bengal to make the initial version. Still, it is not a surprise to see Higgins make it in. He was named as a second alternate. Given that players are often unavailable to participate, whether it is due to injury, playing in the Super Bowl, or something else, it was always likely that Higgins would find his way in.
For Flacco, however, this comes as more of a surprise. The veteran QB was not named as an alternate when the roster was first announced. But with Browns QB Shedeur Sanders also having recently been added, it seems like anything goes at this point.
While Sanders’ inclusion has widely been regarded as a joke, it is not completely undeserved for Flacco. Although he didn’t play in every game, he turned in some strong performances for the Bengals after they acquired him in a trade with the Browns.
I have never been on the “Flacco is elite” train, which used to chug along steadily back in the day. But still, it was surprising to learn that this will be the 41 year old’s first appearance at the Pro Bowl. While it might not have been the year he would have expected to get it, his career has definitely warranted at least one or two of them, and it is good to see him finally get the accolade.
