The Bengals have signed C Jacob Bayer to the practice squad.

This move was made earlier this week, and comes at a time where backup C Matt Lee has been placed on IR with a knee injury.

Bayer is a rookie undrafted free agent out of Arkansas State. He was a small school prospect, but earned an invite to the Senior Bowl. Back in 2024, his story actually turned some heads. Bayer tore his ACL during a practice at the end of March, but shockingly made a quick enough recovery to return in time for his team’s second game of the season in early September.

Still, he did not get drafted, and ended up signing with the Buffalo Bills following the NFL Draft. He was waived by the Bills during final cuts, but did not resurface on their practice squad. Up to this point, he had been a free agent, but he now gives the Bengals some organizational depth at the C position.
