The Bengals have promoted LB Joe Giles-Harris and QB Sean Clifford from the practice squad to the active roster.

Giles-Harris gets his promotion after Shaka Heyward was placed on IR. The veteran LB had a solid preseason, but narrowly missed out on a roster spot. The Heyward injury, as well as Logan Wilson being listed as doubtful for week 9, prompted the Bengals to add some additional depth to the active roster.

Clifford, meanwhile, has been on the practice squad since Joe Burrow got hurt in week 2. He was initially behind Jake Browning and Brett Rypien on the depth chart, but when they brought in Joe Flacco, Rypien was released, while Clifford retained his spot on the practice squad.

Heading into week 9, Flacco is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. Although he is expected to play, the situation could change. Promoting Clifford will allow the Bengals to dress him as an emergency 3rd string QB on game day.
