The Bengals have reworked the contract of G Cordell Volson.
Volson was making a modest salary as a mid round pick, but his substantial amount of playing time since his rookie season earned him some performance bonuses, which bumped his salary up to $3.7M for the 2025 season.
This is the third player to rework their deal with the Bengals, following Zack Moss and Geno Stone, who each reduced their salary in exchange for more guaranteed money, and likely avoided being cut.
It would seem that this is also the case for Volson. It is being reported by Ben Baby that his base salary of $3.7M has been reduced, while his guaranteed money has been bumped up from a measly $164,220.
At this time, it isn’t yet known what the exact numbers are, or how much cap and cash relief the Bengals will be getting. Nor do we know how much additional guaranteed money has been added to Volson’s deal. When those numbers are available, they will be added to this article.
As things stand, it is premature to be calling him a roster lock. However, for someone who many considered to be on the outside looking in, his chances of making the roster just went up quite a bit.
