The Bengals have joined the NFL’s Global Markets Program, having been given international marketing rights in Canada, the team announced.
This program gives teams the ability to market in certain international locations, allowing them to build up a following and expand their fanbase. Various teams have been granted these rights in different countries around the world. In addition to the Bengals, the Seahawks, Bills, Cardinals, Lions, and Vikings also have marketing rights in Canada.
Given its close proximity to the United States, Canada is considered a “priority market.” The NFL’s following in Canada is huge, and this gives the team an additional chance to take advantage, with Canadian Bengals Chase Brown and Tanner McLachlan serving as big marketing points.
Elizabeth Blackburn spoke on the announcement, with her statement being released on bengals.com:
Canada has a great history and passion for football, and we are excited to join the Global Markets Program to further engage with and grow our Canadian fanbase. Growing the game globally is an important priority for the NFL. We are excited to be part of the Global Market Program’s expansion to include all 32 teams and look forward to broadening the reach of Who Dey Nation in Canada.
Bengals Up North, as you might know by now, is a Canadian run site that covers the Cincinnati Bengals. Needless to say, this is welcomed news around here, and it will be exciting to the continued growth of Who Deh Nation, here on the northern side of the border.
