After Lou Anarumo and several other coaches were recently let go, the purge of the coaching staff continues with the Bengals firing two more members. Mark Duffner and Louie Cioffi are the latest casualties.

Duffner had originally joined the Bengals organization all the way back in 1997 as LB coach. In 2001, he was promoted to defensive coordinator, a title he held through 2002. A well respected coach on the defensive side, Duffner would eventually re-join the organization in 2019, as a senior defensive assistant.

Cioffi, like Duffner, first joined the team in 1997. But his first stint lasted much longer. He worked as an assistant DB coach through 2010. Cioffi returned to Cincinnati in 2021, serving as a defensive quality control coach.

Given the struggles on the defensive side this year, it comes as no surprise to see the Bengals continue their overhaul of that side of the staff. Up to this point, OL coach Frank Pollack is the only member from the offensive side to have been fired.
