The Bengals have signed RB Gary Brightwell to the practice squad.
Brightwell was originally a 2021 6th round pick of the New York Giants. In New York, he managed to pick up 164 yards and a TD on 41 carries, while also adding 92 yards on 11 receptions. He had spent part of this season with the Browns, before eventually being waived.
With Zack Moss going on IR, it has been clear that the Bengals are looking to bolster their RB depth. Kendall Milton was quickly promoted to the roster from the practice squad after Moss got hurt. Then, they traded for Khalil Herbert. The team also worked out veteran Leonard Fournette, but opted to sign Brightwell instead.
Speaking of workouts, Fournette was not the only notable name that the Bengals had in the building. Veteran CB Xavier Howard also came in for a workout.
The workout with Howard seemed to go well. In fact, Mike Garafolo reported that the Bengals even made an offer to Howard, but the two sides could not come to an agreement on a contract. The Bengals are in need of secondary help, given the recent struggles of the unit, and Howard could have been a solid addition. Perhaps they circle back around at some point later on.
