In news that I don’t think any Bengals fan thought they would hear in their lifetime — the Cincinnati Bengals have made a deadline day trade as a buyer.
To Bengals: RB, Khalil Herbert
To Bears: 2025 7th Round Pick
Yes, the Bengals have traded for RB Khalil Herbert from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2025 7th round draft pick.
Herbert was originally a 6th round pick of the Bears in 2021. He had a solid start to his career, but in more recent times, had been playing behind D’Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson. With an asset stuck at the bottom of the depth chart, the Bears decided to make him available for a pick.
The Bengals boost their backfield depth that was thin following the news of Zack Moss being placed on IR with a neck injury. Moss will be out for a minimum of 4 games, but there is word that he could miss the rest of the regular season. Herbert will play a role on offence, along with starter Chase Brown.
Along with Moss, the Bengals placed TE Erick All on IR. All tore his ACL in the team’s victory over the Raiders on Sunday. It is a tough blow for the rookie, who also tore his ACL in college. All had been eating into Sample’s snaps, as well as Tanner Hudson’s. We can now expect both TE’s to play a bit more going forward, with Sample’s coming in a blocking role, and Hudson’s as a receiver. Rookie Tanner McLachlan may also be active on game days going forward.
