The Bengals practice squad has undergone some changes over the past 10 days or so.
Back on October 8, the team signed CB Micah Abraham to the practice squad.
Abraham is a rookie 6th round pick of the Indianapolis Colts. He was waived by the Colts during final cuts, and remained a free agent up until he was picked up by the Bengals. This move was likely in response to Daxton Hill going on IR, adding depth to the CB room.
A few days ago, the Bengals lost a member of their practice squad. DE Isaiah Thomas has been poached away by the Detroit Lions. He was signed to the practice squad on August 29 after being waived by the Browns. The Lions are making this move to add depth to their DE room after losing Aidan Hutchinson.
It didn’t take long for the Bengals to fill the void left by Thomas, and they did so by bringing back a familiar face. Former preseason standout Raymond Johnson has been signed to the practice squad. Johnson spent the 2022 season with the Bengals on the practice squad. Despite a good preseason in 2023, he was waived during final cuts, and was claimed by the Lions. After brief offseason stints with the 49ers and Jaguars, Johnson now returns to Cincinnati.
