The Bengals have re-signed OT/G Cody Ford to a 1 year contract.

Ford is entering his 6th year in the league, and first joined the Bengals last offseason as a free agent. He spent this past season as the team’s swing tackle, sometimes coming in as an extra offensive lineman in jumbo packages.

The 6’3”, 329 lb lineman played sparingly in one of the five starting spots, filling in for Orlando Brown at LT in one game, and then getting some time at RG in the season finale against the Browns.

Ford was highly touted as a 2nd rounder in 2019, but struggled with multiple teams before landing with the Bengals. Despite beating out guys like Jackson Carman and D’Ante Smith for the swing tackle job, Ford’s struggles continued with the Bengals in both the preseason and regular season.

Even after the struggles, the Bengals are bringing him back. O-line depth is scarce around the league, and Ford knows the system. Still, additions are surely going to be made in free agency and the draft, which means Ford should have to compete for his spot once again.
