Bengals Pick Up 5th Year Option of QB Joe Burrow

The Bengals have picked up the 5th year option of QB Joe Burrow, per Ian Rapoport.

Burrow was drafted 1st overall by the Bengals in 2020. All first round picks sign a standard 4 year deal, with a team option for a 5th, which must be picked up or declined after year 3.

Since being drafted, Burrow has led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance, and another one in the AFC Championship a year later. Needless to say, with how well he has played, this move comes as absolutely zero surprise.

In 2024, his 5th year, Burrow will have a cap hit of $29.5M. As most know, the team and the star QB have already started contact negotiations for an extension beyond 2024. Once completed, it is expected to pay him over $50M annually.
