The Bengals have signed G/C Nathan Gilliam, and have waived LB Carson Wells in a corresponding move.

Gilliam played his college ball at Wake Forest. He went undrafted in 2020 before signing with the Los Angeles Chargers as a free agent. That offseason, he showed enough to land a spot on the team’s practice squad, which is where he stayed for the entire season.

He started 2021 on the Chargers practice squad, but also ended up on the Steelers practice squad later on. Pittsburgh signed him to a futures deal earlier this offseason, and he played in their preseason opener before getting waived. He gives the Bengals some extra OL depth with Jackson Carman testing positive for covid.

Wells, meanwhile, played his college ball at Colorado. We went undrafted this year, and signed with the Bengals shortly after. Wells played in the team’s preseason opener and finished with one tackle. Unfortunately, he was fighting an uphill battle to claim a spot in a crowded LB room. He will now try to latch on elsewhere.
