Camp, the preseason, and roster cuts are now in the rear view mirror, and the Bengals are nearing their week 1 matchup against the New England Patriots. While they did lose a few solid depth guys during camp, the injury bug didn’t hit too hard, with their star players mostly escaping without any issues.
Ja’Marr Chase was “holding in,” as he continues to wait for a contract extension. There was some chatter of him potentially holding out in week 1, if a new deal isn’t reached. However, a lot of progress has been made, and the expectation is that he will play.
Tee Higgins was a late addition to the injury report. The wideout had a great camp and was looking to bounce back after injuries cost him some games last year. Unfortunately, he suffered a hamstring injury in practice and is now listed as questionable.
The Bengals will also be without rookie OT Amarius Mims, as well as rookie DT Kris Jenkins, who will have surgery on his thumb. The team is hoping Jenkins can return in week 2.
The Patriots, meanwhile, will be without G Sidy Sow. As for the rest, they are expected to play. Officially, Gibson, Uche, and Lowe are listed as questionable.
