After visiting with him earlier in the day, the Pittsburgh Steelers have officially announced that they have signed former Bengals DT Larry Ogunjobi to a 1 year deal.

Ogunjobi was a big part of the Bengals team that won the AFC North last year. In the regular season, he accumulated 7 sacks, 49 tackles, including 12 for a loss, and 16 QB hits. His athleticism and high running motor led to plenty of splash plays for the defence.

Ogunjobi also played in the Bengals Wildcard victory over the Raiders, but unfortunately suffered a season ending foot injury that required surgery. Back in March, Ogunjobi had agreed to a large deal with the Chicago Bears, but the Bears ended up flunking him on his physical, and backed out.

The Bengals seemingly had interest in bringing back Ogunjobi. 3T still seems to be a need for the Bengals, even with the re-signing of BJ Hill and drafting of Zach Carter. However, it has seemed for a while that Ogunjobi has been looking to go in a different direction. In addition to his meeting with the Steelers today, he met with the New York Jets earlier in the offseason.

The defensive line has also been a need for the Steelers, especially after the retirement of Stephon Tuitt. Assuming he is healthy, Ogunjobi will be a nice addition for them, especially considering how late into the offseason it is.

Ogunjobi was one of four Bengals starters from 2021 remaining on the open market. Now that he is off to the Steelers, Quinton Spain, Riley Reiff, and Trey Hopkins are the three left out there.
