After being fired following the 2018 season, former Bengals coach Marvin Lewis is set to return to the NFL.
Lewis was hired by the Bengals back in 2003, and is largely credited with changing the culture in an organization that had experienced a lot of losing over the previous decade. During his tenure, the Bengals had a lot of regular season success. Unfortunately, it was never able to translate into success in the playoffs, as Lewis was 0-7 with the Bengals.
After being given seemingly endless chances, the Bengals finally did part ways with Lewis following the 2018 season. From there, he went on to coach in college football with Arizona State, while the Bengals brought in Zac Taylor.
Now, Marvin Lewis will be getting another opportunity in the NFL. This past season, he had been giving assistance to Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce after he replaced Josh McDaniels, who had been fired mid-season. The two also worked together at Arizona State. Now that Pierce has been given the Vegas job moving forward, without the interim tag, he will be bringing on Marvin Lewis officially. For Lewis, it will be his first job in the NFL since being let go by the Bengals.
