Former Bengals CB Mike Hilton has signed a 1 year deal with the Miami Dolphins.
Hilton had been the team’s starting slot CB since he signed with the Bengals back in 2021. He was a big part of the team that made a run to the Super Bowl that same season.
Known as a blue collar player, Hilton lived up to his reputation in Cincinnati. He was a menace near the line of scrimmage, pressuring the QB on blitzes, blowing up screen passes, and making big tackles as a run defender.
Unfortunately, the other part of the position requires you to cover down the field. Hilton was never the most athletic player, and seemed to have lost another step in the last year or two. This resulted in times where teams were able to pick on him in coverage a little bit.
The writing was on the wall for Hilton’s days as a Bengal when the team expressed confidence in their young members of the secondary, including high end athletes like Cam Taylor-Britt, Daxton Hill, and DJ Turner, as well as a mid-round slot CB in Josh Newton, who stylistically resembles Hilton.
Hilton finishes his time in Cincinnati having played in 64 games for the Bengals. He racked up 6 interceptions, 1 TD, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 24 pass breakups, and 2 sacks.
