The Atlanta Falcons have signed former Bengals WR Auden Tate to a 1 year contract.
Tate was originally a 2018 7th round pick of the Bengals. After initially starting off on the practice squad, he worked his way up the depth chart in the years that followed. Despite lacking in the athleticism department, he was able to turn heads with his ability take advantage of his 6’5″ frame and make contested catches
His best season came in 2019, when he contributed 575 yards. With AJ Green missing that entire season, and John Ross also missing time, there was a clear pathway for Tate to see the field. However, over the past two seasons, Tate has seen his playing time drop significantly. Green was back for the 2020 season, and the Bengals used a 2nd round pick that year on Tee Higgins. And while Green left as a free agent last offseason, his spot for the 2021 season was filled by 5th overall pick Ja’Marr Chase. After seeing less playing time, Tate ended up finishing the year in IR.
Over the course of his Bengals career, Tate totaled 61 receptions, 799 yards, and 2 TD’s. He will now look to find a role in the Falcons offence.
