The Philadelphia Eagles have signed former Bengals G Max Scharping to a 1 year deal.

Scharping was originally a 2nd round pick of the Texans in 2019. But things didn’t quite work out, after a promising start in Houston. He was placed on waivers prior to the start of the 2022 season, and the Bengals claimed him.

For the most part, Scharping served as a depth lineman in Cincinnati. However, he ended up making a few starts at RG during the 2022 playoffs, after Alex Cappa picked up an injury.

Scharping re-signed with the Bengals last offseason, and even got some work at C during camp. But in the end, the starting OL unit was able to remain healthy, and he saw little action in 2023, with most of that coming on the field goal unit.

The Bengals still have some question marks when it comes to their depth at G, but Scharping wasn’t someone who inspired a ton of confidence when he did see the field. It will be interesting to see if they look to make another addition there before training camp gets going.

Funny enough, Scharping joins what has become a laundry list of former Bengals now on the Eagles roster. Former 1st round pick John Ross came out of retirement to sign in Philly. CJ Uzomah, Jake Elliott, Fred Johnson, and Will Grier are also on the Eagles roster at the moment.
