The Miami Dolphins claimed DE Darius Hodge off waivers from the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday.
The Bengals had waived Hodge, along with Nick McCloud, in order to make room for Vernon Hargreaves and Hakeem Adeniji on the roster.
Hodge was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Marshall. As arguably the longest shot in the position group, he had a stellar preseason. He racked up multiple sacks and pressures, en route to earning a spot on the 53 man roster.
Despite playing limited snaps on defence, the Bengals still should have been high on his upside. They likely wanted to retain him on the practice squad. However, with the Dolphins claiming him, they will only get that chance if he is put back on the waiver wire.
