According to reports, Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase is expected to go on IR after dealing with a hip injury the last couple of weeks.

Chase left last Sunday’s game against Atlanta, but was able to return later on. Unfortunately, the injury now seems to be more serious than expected.

The timeline being reported at this time is 4-6 weeks for Chase. He saw a specialist on Wednesday and will be seeking additional information before any final decisions are made.

If he is placed on IR, Chase will be required to miss a minimum of 4 games. That would give him 5 weeks to recover, as the Bengals have their bye mixed in.

Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd are certainly no slouches, and Hayden Hurst has been solid. However, the Bengals don’t currently have a true WR4 on the roster, so it will be interesting to see how the void is filled. Will we see a rotation of guys like Mike Thomas, Trent Taylor, and Stanley Morgan? Will Chris Evans be more involved going forward? Or will an outside option, like Will Fuller, be brought in?

One thing is certain, whoever steps into that role will have some big shoes to fill.
