The Bengals return from their week 10 bye, as they get set to take on the Steelers. With game preparation starting to get underway, the team was also able to use their extra time to kick the tires on some outside help for the defence. DT Darius Philon, CB Chris Steele, and CB Chris Wilcox in for workouts.

Philon is the most notable name of the bunch. The 28 year old vet has been in the league since 2015, serving as a good rotational piece throughout his career. During that span, he has suited up in 65 games, totaling 107 tackles and 11.5 sacks. In 2021, Philon played for the Raiders, racking up 27 tackles and 2 sacks. Though DJ Reader is set to make his return from injury, Philon would still be a solid depth addition for the Bengals, should they choose to go that route.

Chris Steele is a rookie undrafted free agent out of USC. He signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent following the draft, but did not make the team. Chris Wilcox, meanwhile, was a 7th round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. He did not make the team out of camp, but was briefly on the Colts’ roster, before eventually ending up on their practice squad, where he spent the rest of the season.

With injuries on the defensive side, especially in the secondary, it is not a surprise to see the Bengals host some workouts. While a signing may not be imminent, these are guys who could potentially be brought in down the line, should the injury bug strike again.
