The Bengals have waived 11 players following their preseason finale, including 2021 2nd round pick, Jackson Carman.

Carman was turning in some rough performances right out of the gate, but a solid spot start against the Bills during the 2022 playoffs sparked some hope about his development and future with the team. However, his 2023 season was largely spent as a healthy scratch.

This offseason was widely regarded as his last chance, and after a poor performance in the preseason opener, and only limited action in the second game, the writing seemed to be on the wall. It is a disappointing end to pick that was disappointing from the second it was made.

The team also waived CB Allan George. He was originally signed by the Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2022. George first started out on the practice squad, and spent most of his time there during his tenure in Cincinnati. But he was able to earn some roster call-ups from time to time. His early release isn’t a great sign, but I do still wonder if there is a chance he comes back on the practice squad.

The Bengals also waived the following players:

OT, Eric Miller

WR, Kwamie Lassiter

WR, Hakeem Butler

QB, Rocky Lombardi

LB, Aaron Casey

RB, Noah Cain

DE, Andre Carter

DT, Joshua Pryor

S, Michael Dowell

As I mentioned with Allan George, their early release might not bode too well for their chances of resurfacing on the practice squad. However, one I do hope to see return is Eric Miller. For an undrafted rookie, he had some solid moments in the preseason. To me, he would be a worthwhile developmental offensive lineman. Other than Miller and maybe George, I wouldn’t expect any of these players to be back on the initial practice squad, unless they want to keep Carman around for the draft pedigree. That doesn’t seem likely, however.
