Bengals Waive DE Tarell Basham

The Bengals have waived DE Tarell Basham.

Basham, originally a 3rd round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in the 2017 NFL Draft, was signed by the Bengals at the end of March.

He was added to the competition, in what was, and still is, a deep DE unit. Unfortunately for Basham, an injury suffered early on in training camp cost him a lot of time, and prevented him from suiting up in either of the first two preseason games. While he was out, guys like Cam Sample, Raymond Johnson, and Jeffrey Gunter impressed, making a pathway for Basham to rise up the depth chart next to impossible.

With the Bengals already knowing their plans for him, releasing Basham before cut down day will give him some extra time to latch on elsewhere.
