The eighth day of training camp for the Bengals featured many of the same issues that were persistent in the previous practices. It was only the third padded practice for the team, and second for Joe Burrow, who had the last practice off.

Recap:

Penalties an issue early on

Penalties had been an issue in previous practices and that trend continued today. The OL in particular had a bad day, committing four false start penalties. One of which was on Jackson Carman, who was then pulled for Xavier Su’a-Filo.

The defence was also called a couple of times for pass interference.

Something else to note was that it was the first day with live officials.

Offence continues to struggle

The offence once again struggled to move the ball and the OL gave up a couple of would-be sacks. In the 11 on 11 portion, Joe Burrow went just 4 of 11 and overthrew both Trent Taylor and Ja’Marr Chase.

Bright spots on offense

One of the bright spots noted by reporters was a pass down the sideline from Burrow to Higgins.

Higgins has come into camp stronger and faster, and has been one of the best players thus far.

Injury Updates

Trae Waynes and Riley Reiff both missed a practice or two with minor injuries earlier this week. Both were returned today.

Kicking Update

Both kickers had attempts today.

McPherson went 4/4 with a long of 54 yards.

Austin Seibert was statistically 3/4, with his miss coming from 50 yards out. However, he also missed one from 54 yards, but the play didn’t count as he was iced before the snap. He made the next attempt.
