The Bengals have traded C Billy Price to the New York Giants, in exchange for DT BJ Hill and a conditional 7th round pick.
Price was selected with the 21st overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
The move does not come as a huge surprise, as Price was clearly behind Trey Hopkins on the depth chart, and overall, has been a disappointment. However, as a former 1st round pick, there was always the chance that Price would have some trade interest around the league.
BJ Hill was a 3rd round pick in the same draft as Price. He showed a lot of promise in his rookie year, recording 5.5 sacks, before recording only 1 in each of the next two seasons. That being said, he has still been able to put up some pressure.
Hill is primarily known for his work against the run. He is a beefy interior lineman that is good at clogging gaps. In each of his first three seasons, he has received positive grades from PFF for his work against the run.
Overall, the move does seem like a win-win, as the Bengals add some much needed DT depth, while the Giants add some depth to a poor OL. Both players, you figure, have some upside. Whoever can tap into that potential will end up getting the better end of the deal.
