The Bengals have added to their TE depth by signing Nick Eubanks.
Eubanks is a 2021 undrafted free agent. He originally signed with the Cowboys, before spending time with the Eagles and Lions later on.
The 6’5″ TE out of Michigan has some favourable traits. He is a good athlete who flashed some receiving ability in college. Eubanks also flashed as a blocker, and can be moved around the formation, including in-line in the traditional TE spot, out in the slot, or at H-Back.
However, while the flashes were nice, consistency wasn’t there, and his production was nothing to write home about. At this point, he is still a trait-based developmental player.
Eubanks will probably compete with guys like Mitchell Wilcox and Thaddeus Moss for a spot or two on the practice squad, or perhaps a roster spot if he can really impress. That said, a spot on the active roster will be hard to come by with Hurst and Sample essentially locked in, as well as there being a high possibility of an early draft pick being added to the fold.
