The Bengals have signed RB Trayveon Williams off of the practice squad to the active roster. With Chris Evans listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Chargers, this move essentially confirms that he will be out.
Williams was drafted by the Bengals in the 6th round in 2019. In his career so far, Williams has found his way into 12 games, rushing 32 times for 170 yards and catching 5 passes for 30 yards. This year, he has only played in 2 games, accumulating 6 carries for 13 yards.
In a corresponding move, the team has placed WR Auden Tate on Injured Reserve. It hasn’t been a great year, health wise, for Tate. He has missed the last four games with thigh and calf issues, and will now be required to miss a minimum of three more games after being placed on IR.
When he has been healthy, Tate hasn’t been as involved this year as he has in the past. He only has 3 receptions for 39 yards and a TD on the year. In his career with the Bengals, the former 7th round pick has 61 receptions for 799 yards and 2 TD’s.
