The Bengals have brought back a familiar face, signing RB Jacques Patrick.
Patrick was first signed by the Bengals in 2020 after he spent time playing in the XFL. He spent that season on the practice squad.
Patrick was back for the 2021 offseason and had an impressive season. His play showed he deserved a roster spot, but with the Bengals depth at the position, he just missed. Instead, he landed on the practice squad, only to be poached by the 49ers just a couple of weeks later.
This signing comes after RB Elijah Holyfield was placed on IR. Holyfield spent most of last season on the practice squad, and was brought back to compete for a spot. Unfortunately, he went down with an injury early into training camp, and had to be carted off.
Being on IR at this point in the season, Holyfield will be forced to miss the 2022 season unless the Bengals release him with an injury settlement.
