Bengals Sign QB Trevor Siemian

The Bengals have signed QB Trevor Siemian. This move came shortly after Brandon Allen signed with the 49ers.

The Bengals met with Siemian earlier in the offseason, as they searched for a backup QB. He brings plenty of experience to the table, starting 30 of the 35 games he has appeared in since 2015. After spending his first few years with the Denver Broncos, he has since bounced around a bit, spending time with the Jets, Saints, and Bears, among others.

He will not blow you away with traits, possessing average arm strength and little mobility. However, Siemian is someone who has decent enough accuracy and has the mental capacity to come in and manage an offence.

The connection here is with OC Brian Callahan, who coached Siemian in Denver. The two reportedly have a good relationship, which helped land him a job in Cincinnati.

Siemian is the favourite to land the primary backup role, behind starter Joe Burrow. However, he likely will have to beat out Jake Browning in a competition to win it officially.
