Following Joe Burrow’s calf injury, the Bengals have signed QB Reid Sinnett. He was worked out, along with former Bengal Drew Plitt, and seemingly did enough to earn a contract.
Sinnett was originally signed by the Buccaneers as a UDFA in 2020. For the most part, he has bounced around practice squads, with stints in Miami and Philadelphia, in addition to Tampa Bay.
Most recently, Sinnett was with the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL. In his only game there, he completed 13 of 19 pass attempts for 97 yards, a TD, and a pick. He also rushed for 10 yards.
The purpose of this signing was to add an extra camp arm while Burrow it so. On that note, Sinnett is very unlikely to factor into the backup QB battle with Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning. In all likelihood, he will essentially be auditioning for other teams while with the Bengals, unless he manages to do well enough to earn a practice squad spot, which would probably mean that the Bengals kept 4 QB’s split between the roster and practice squad.
