The Bengals and QB Joe Burrow have agreed on a contract extension, per report. It is a 5 year extension worth up to $275M, with $219.01M guaranteed.
This deal makes Burrow the highest paid player in the league. This was always the expectation, and a deal getting done was a matter of when, not if. With it now being out of the way, Burrow and the team can focus on the season without contract talks being on their minds.
Burrow entered the league as a 1st overall selection by the Bengals in 2020. A promising rookie season was cut short by a knee injury, but he bounced back, leading the Bengals to two AFC Championship appearances and a Super Bowl appearance.
Entering this season, he still had 1 year left on his rookie contract, plus the 5th year option. Now, the Bengals have Burrow locked up for the next 7 seasons.
