The Bengals have already made a few changes to their practice squad since announcing the initial one. One of the bigger takeaways on the original date was that they did not have a QB on the practice squad. Well, that changed on Tuesday.

The team announced that they have signed QB Jake Browning to the practice squad. Browning was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He stuck with them on the practice squad for two years before being waived this year during final cuts.

Jake Browning is best known for his time spent as the starting QB at the University of Washington. Bengals fans might remember him as the guy throwing the ball to John Ross during his college days.

He is not someone that offers much developmental upside, compared to someone like Jake Dolegala, but he does provide the Bengals with an extra arm in practice.

In a corresponding move, the team released P Drue Chrisman from the practice squad.

Chrisman missed most of training camp with an injury, but his inclusion on the initial practice squad suggests that the Bengals see something in him.

Over the course of a season, the practice squad can be like a game of musical chairs, with there being frequent changes. It would not be a surprise to see Chrisman back on the practice squad at some point, whenever there is room.
