The Bengals have signed QB AJ McCarron to the practice squad.
This is a blast from the past for the Bengals. As you may remember, McCarron was started at QB in the Bengals infamous loss to the Settlers in the 2015 Wildcard playoff matchup.
Though Reid Sinnett was just signed to the practice squad the other day, McCarron gives the Bengals some starting experience in the organization.
McCarrion joining the team comes as it is looking increasingly likely that Joe Burrow will miss Monday’s matchup against the Rams. Though Jake Browning will likely be the one to get the start, McCarron’s experience gives them a more reliable option, and should allow him to jump in if Burrow needs to miss more time beyond just this week.
With his old number 5 occupied by Tee Higgins, it looks like McCarron will wear number 4 in his second stint with the Bengals.
