The Bengals have signed WR Dohnte Meyers to a reserve/future deal.

Meyers originally went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. He ended up in the CFL for the 2024 season, signing with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. After serving in a depth role for his rookie season, Meyers broke out in year two, putting up 1,056 yards and 8 TD’s on 65 catches.

Going back to his college days, Meyers measures in at 5’10”, and reportedly ran a 4.54 40 at his pro day. The tape, to me, would also say that he isn’t exactly a speedster, despite being on the smaller side.

Meyers will have his work cut out for him to crack the roster or practice squad, but his route running is pretty solid, and he possesses enough quickness to make some plays from the slot. He’ll have to lean on these traits when his time comes. He is certainly going to be an underdog in camp, but as we have seen from someone like Mitchell Tinsley, guys do sometimes make a surprise impact. We’ll see if Meyers can do the same.

In other news, former Bengals C Seth McLaughlin has signed a reserve/future deal with the Detroit Lions.

McLaughlin first joined the Bengals as an undrafted free agent last offseason. He was coming off a college injury, but was able to return for the later part of camp. Unable to earn a spot on the roster, he spent the season on the practice squad.

Being stuck behind Ted Karras and Matt Lee in Cincinnati, perhaps McLaughlin can find a better path to playing time in Detroit.
