The Bengals have given C Ted Karras a 1 year contract extension.
Karras was entering the final year of his contract, but is now locked up through the 2025 season.
Cincinnati did add a C in the 7th round of the draft, in Matt Lee, but he is only competing for a depth spot at this point. Given the lack of depth, and no long term solution currently on the roster, retaining Karras is a move that makes a lot of sense.
This signing also makes sense beyond just the team not having a long term solution in place. Karras has played well and been very consistent since signing with the Bengals in 2022. He has started all 36 games that he has appeared in, while being a big reason for the improved offensive line play since his arrival.
The leadership that Karras has shown since his arrival also has not gone unnoticed. His continued presence will be great for at least the next couple of seasons.
