The Bengals have re-signed LB Joe Bachie to a 1 year contract.
Bachie was originally a 2020 UDFA signing of the New Orleans Saints. He signed with the Bengals last offseason, initially landing a spot on the practice squad.
Bachie was promoted after the team suffered some injuries at the position. He ended up appearing in 9 games, starting 2 of them, before tearing his ACL against the Broncos. He impressed during that stint, proving to be a valuable depth piece that can be effective when called upon. His value on special teams was also evident.
The young LB will now return for another offseason to compete for a spot. Rehab will be the focus for the next while as he hopes to be ready for camp.
Some other free agency news has also surfaced today. According to reports, the Bengals will be letting DE Wyatt Ray hit free agency. He was scheduled to be an ERFA, giving the team control over his rights, but they will not tender him an offer.
Ray was claimed off waivers by the Bengals prior to the start of last season. He appeared in 15 games, making 15 tackles, while adding a sack and a forced fumble.
