The Bengals have re-signed G Max Scharping to a 1 year contract.
Scharping was originally a 2nd round pick of the Houston Texans in 2019. They waived him prior to the start of last season, and he was claimed by the Bengals.
He got a few starts at RG in the playoffs after Alex Cappa went down with an injury. However, he wasn’t all that inspiring. Still, he gives the Bengals a depth option with plenty of starting experience.
Scharping won’t, or at least shouldn’t, be guaranteed a roster spot. And though it is hard to forecast what the roster might look like, given that they haven’t finished filling out the roster, Scharping is likely to have a pretty big leg up in the battle, not only for a depth spot along the interior, but one of the top ones.
