The Bengals have re-signed a couple of key depth players on the defence.
CB Jalen Davis has been given a 2 year deal, per Ian Rapoport. Davis has very quietly become one of the team’s better depth players in the secondary. He primarily plays in the slot, and can also contribute a little bit on special teams. In each of the last couple of seasons, Davis won his spot out of camp with an impressive preseason. This past regular season, he turned in a solid performance when Mike Hilton missed a game.
For Bachie, it is a 1 year deal. He was set to be an RFA. Given that they chose to re-sign him instead of tendering him as a RFA, it can be assumed that his contract is cheaper than the tender. Bachie was solid off the bench in the backstretch of the 2021 season. He didn’t play as much this year, but has been a key special teamer. As well, with Germain Pratt’s status with the team uncertain, having some continuity at the backend of the depth chart is a good thing.
