Bengals Promote Brown, Potts, Radicevic to AGM; Johnson to Executive Scout

The Bengals have made some promotions in the front office. Trey Brown, Mike Potts, and Steven Radicevic have all been promoted to assistant general manager.

Brown under his old title, had been the team’s senior personnel executive, is involved in roster decisions, as well as trade and contract negotiations, among other things. For several offseasons now, his name has been out there as a potential GM candidate for teams around the league. He has had a handful of interviews, but in each case, remained with the Bengals when it was all said and done. Now, the Bengals, who have held Brown in high regard for a while now, have given him a promotion. He will be entering his 5th season with the Bengals.

Potts and Radicevic, meanwhile, were both directors of scouting. Potts will be entering his 11th season with the Bengals. Radicevic will be entering his 14th season. The two, among other things, are involved in the free agency process, coming up with contract valuations, as well as pro and college scouting.

In a statement made on bengals.com, director or player personnel, Duke Tobin, had this to say about the trio:

Steve, Mike and Trey work in all areas of the club and assist me in every aspect. They’re highly capable. They’re impactful in all areas of personnel. We felt like this title fit their role with us.

– Duke Tobin

While these guys have all been promoted to assistant GM, the Bengals do not officially have a GM. But for nearly three decades, Duke Tobin has served as the de facto GM.

In an additional move, the Bengals have promoted Andrew Johnson from a scout to executive scout. Previously tasked with handling the Northeastern area, day to day operations will now be added to his role. He is entering his 10th season with the team.

This comes after some previous shakeups to the scouting department were made. Josh Hinch, Tyler Ramsey, and Trey LaBounty were added in various roles, while Christian Sarkisian left the organization.
