The Bengals have made a string of moves over the last week. The most notable of which is the placement of Charlie Jones on IR.

Jones suffered a thumb injury while returning a punt against the Rams. The rookie had only 1 catch for 6 yards on the year, but had a punt return TD against the Ravens, and had been electric as the team’s punt returner through 3 weeks.

Trenton Irwin is listed as the backup punt returner, but it is possible that we see Trayveon Wiliams or Chris Evans take on that role too, with Joens out.

With an open roster spot, the Bengals have claimed LB Devin Harper off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys.

Harper was originally a 6th round pick by the Cowboys in 2022. In his career thus far, he has played in 6 games, largely in a special teams role in those games.

For the Bengals, Harper adds depth at the position, with Akeem Davis-Gaither dealing with an injury at the moment.

In some older news, DE Garrett Nelson has been released from the practice squad.

This move was made close to a week ago when AJ McCarron was added to the practice squad. The rookie’s stint in Cincinnati was short lived, as he had just been added on September 5th. As it stands, the Bengals practice squad is at the 16 man limit.
