Bengals Place DT McKinnley Jackson on IR; Re-Sign RB Trayveon Williams; Fill Out Practice Squad

The Bengals have placed DT McKinnley Jackson on IR, with a designation to return. This rules him out for a minimum of four games.

Jackson had unfortunately missed all of the preseason due to this injury, and it continues to leave the Bengals with a lot of questions in regards to how they will fill the NT position. They did sign Justin Rogers to the practice squad, who is that type of role player. However, for the time being, it seems as though it could be some sort of rotation between BJ Hill, Kris Jenkins, and Jay Tufele, with Sheldon Rankins serving as the 3T.

With Jackson off to IR, there was room for RB Trayveon Williams to be re-signed to the roster. He was recently cut, but this was just roster gymnastics, as the Bengals worked to get their IR designations sorted out. He will remain the RB3.

In addition to those moves, and the ones made yesterday, the Bengals have filled the final three spots on the practice squad. Being added are RB Kendall Milton, G Tashawn Manning, and DE Isaiah Thomas.

Milton is a rookie who had originally signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent. He won’t wow you with athleticism, but he is a powerful runner who can pick up yards between the tackles. I had a 6th round grade on him back in April, and he was my 13th ranked RB of the draft. Manning was a UDFA signing of the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. He is a powerful blocker with a good anchor, but like Milton, isn’t the best athlete. I had a 7th round grade on him last year. Linked HERE is my article from last year which includes his scouting report.

Thomas was a 7th round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2022. He had 1 sack, 9 tackles, and 2 pass breakups as a rookie. His 2023 season was spent on their practice squad. Thomas now joins the Bengals practice squad, as they continue to add depth at a position where they have lost a few bodies.
