The Bengals have placed C Ben Brown on injured reserve.
Brown saw action in Friday’s preseason opener, but seemingly picked up a biceps injury. He was reportedly seen in the building wearing a sling.
Ben Brown was originally signed by the Bengals as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft. He was competing for depth spots at multiple o-line positions. He had some solid moments in the opener and likely would have at least ended up on the practice squad.
Since he was placed on IR prior to the start of the season, Brown will be forced to miss his entire rookie season. With this move, in addition to the three cuts made yesterday and Hubert’s retirement, the Bengals are now at the roster limit of 85.
By my count they are still at 86 (incl. Jessie Bates).
Bates doesn’t yet count against the roster limit, as he technically isn’t under contract. He’ll count once he signs his franchise tag.
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
