The Bengals have Named their captains for the 2023 season. There are a few changes from last year’s set, with Mike Hilton being included this year. Vonn Bell was a captain last year, but he is now a CarolinaPanther. Michael Thomas was also one last year. However, he is on the practice squad.
- QB, Joe Burrow
- RB, Joe Mixon
- C, Ted Karras
- DE, Sam Hubbard
- DT, DJ Reader
- CB, Mike Hilton
On offence, Joe Burrow headlines the list. As the QB and face of the franchise, there is no real surprise here. He earns the captain’s patch for a fourth straight season. Mixon, meanwhile, has been a leader since his early days with the team. He gets the honour for a third straight season. Ted Karras was voted a team captain last year after just joining the team. In his second year with the Bengals, he has been named one again.
On the defensive side, Sam Hubbard and DJ Reader are captains once again. Hubbard has been one since 2021, and Reader earns it for a second straight year. Mike Hilton is a captain to open the year for the first time since joining the Bengals.
With Kevin Huber no longer a Bengal, and Michael Thomas on the practice squad, the Bengals do not have a special teams captain this year. The 6 players named represent the offence and defence, with an even split of 3 on each side.
