After an incredible season that saw them make it to Super Bowl LVI, the Bengals will not go into 2022 with the exact same coaching staff they had in 2021.

The first departure was announced earlier this week, when we learned that LB coach Al Golden would not be returning. The reason for his departure is that he is set to become the defensive coordinator for Notre Dame. Golden had coached the Bengals LB’s for two seasons.

To fill the void, the team is hiring James Bettcher as their new LB coach. Bettcher most recently was part of the 49ers staff. Previously, he spent time with the Colts, Cardinals, and Giants. Of his five years in Arizona, his final three were spent as their defensive coordinator. He also was the defensive coordinator for the Giants in his two seasons in New York.

They will also have a new face as the DB coach, as Steve Jackson will be leaving the Bengals. Jackson only spent one season with the team, and the reason for his departure is currently unknown.

Charles Burks is being hired to replace Jackson. Burks comes over from a Miami Dolphins team that has a star studded secondary, with names like Xavien Howard and Byron Jones.
