The Bengals have hired Sean Desai senior defensive assistant. This fills the void left after Mark Duffner was fired.
Like we have seen with some of the other defensive hirings, Desai has some familiarity with new defensive coordinator Al Golden. Desai first played for Golden at Temple, before then working under him in a few different roles on the coaching staff.
This past season, Desai worked for the Los Angeles Rams in a similar capacity. According to Tom Pelissero, he was an instrumental part of their game planning.
Over the past several years, Desai has been with a handful of teams. He actually comes with a little defensive coordinator experience. He first spent 1 season as the defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears, and later spent 1 season filling that role for the Seattle Seahawks.
Although his defensive coordinator stints were brief, Desai seems to be well respected around the league. His work in Los Angeles has earned praise, and he clearly has the trust of Al Golden, given the time they spent working together in the past.
