When Brian Callahan left for Tennessee, it prompted the Bengals to promote Dan Pitcher to offensive coordinator, leaving the QB coach position vacant. Then, Robert Livingston took off for Colorado, leaving a hole to fill on the defensive side. Well, they have now taken care of those spots, while also adding a new position to their offensive staff.

Justin Rascati is coming over from the Minnesota Vikings to serve as the team’s passing game coordinator. This is new for the Bengals, who previously have never had this position in an official capacity. Rascati spent the last two seasons as assistant OL coach with the Vikings, and a couple of seasons as an offensive quality control coach with the Broncos prior to that. He also has quite a bit of experience coaching in college, prior to entering the NFL.

The Bengals promoted Brad Kragthorpe to QB coach, replacing Pitcher, who was promoted to offensive coordinator. Kragthorpe has spent 5 seasons with the Bengals in various offensive assistant roles, spending this past season as the assistant QB coach.

Also being promoted is Jordan Kovacs, who will be replacing Robert Livingston as safeties/secondary coach. Kovacs has also been here 5 seasons. Over the past 2, he served as the assistant LB coach.

The Bengals will now be tasked with filling the vacancies left following the latest string of promotions. Though they still have the same number of spots to fill, these open spots are trickling down into lower positions, as they continue to promote from within. Now, for the assistant positions that are left open, the Bengals may look to make some outside hires.
