Bengals Close Out Draft With S Daijahn Anthony & C Matt Lee in 7th

In the 7th round, with the 214th pick, in the 2024 NFL Draft, the CIncinnati Bengals select S Daijahn Anthony. And with the 237th pick, they select C Matt Lee.

Neither one of these players were ones I had scouted prior to the draft. Write-ups on them will be included in my article next month that will be analyzing each of the Bengals UDFA signings.

On this surface, it seems that Anthony is a hard hitting S with some coverage skills. Athletic testing was decent, though I’m not yet sure how the film reflects it. Instincts are said to be an issue, according to Lance Zierlein.

It was an interesting pick, adding a S to a stacked room. But shortly after, Zac Taylor confirmed what many had been speculating all offseason – Daxton Hill is transitioning to CB.

Lee, meanwhile, has decent athletic testing. Zierlein notes that he is a bit lacking when it comes to mass, but is still able to play with strength and anchor in pass protection. The early word on Lee sounds promising, but I will be digging into his game tape later on to get a feel for myself. In any event, the Bengals add some competition to a C room that needed it. Having Trey Hill as the backup C isn’t a good spot to be in. We’ll see if Lee can challenge for it.
